To make it all work you need some SoundGrid Host software running on Windows or MacOS which controls the network, you’ll need a SoundGrid compatible audio interface and then a SoundGrid DSP server – that’s what the SoundGrid Mobile Server is a mini version of. It’s a versatile technology that does away with loads of cabling and equipment. In a live situation it’s good for real-time processing, it can also record whole shows and it can route audio to the stage or different rooms. It also allows you to route audio between rooms in a similar way to other network protocols like Dante and RedNet. You can use it in the studio as a DSP box and because of the low latency it’s completely possible to monitor directly through. It can handle multiple computers and audio interfaces provided they are connected to the same network. It’s proprietary so it’s not having to wade through Windows or MacOS which is why it can be so fast and efficient. This happens over standard ethernet cables at extremely low latencies. ‘Now users can have Plugin Alliance processors right alongside their Waves plugins in the SoundGrid environment, enabling a workflow of ultimate creative freedom and flexibility. What’s SoundGrid? SoundGrid is a system whereby you can route audio through software running on a computer-based box and process it in realtime using Waves plug-ins. ‘As Waves is dedicated to providing our customers the freedom to use their plug-in products anywhere and everywhere, we are happy to announce that Plugin Alliance has released the 100% SoundGrid bundle,’ adds Waves EVP Sales & Marketing, Mick Olesh. ‘We have had many users from the enormous SoundGrid user base ask us when we will have plug-ins for them, and we couldn’t be happier to be able to say, now,’ comments says Plugin Alliance CEO, Matt Ward. The 100% SoundGrid Bundle V1.0 includes: Brainworx bx_saturator V2, SPL Transient Designer Plus and De-Essers, the elysia mpressor, and the Mäag Audio EQ4. The new package collects five precision processors from four manufacturer – Brainworx, SPL, elysia and Mäag Audio – each having been tuned and tested to run on SoundGrid. Together with a server, a Mac or PC host computer and an I/O, SoundGrid supports Waves reverbs, equalisers, compressors and other mixing tools, as well as any third-party SoundGrid-compatible plug-ins. It integrates standard computers, switches and servers with analogue and digital mixing consoles to provide a complete redundancy and recovery system. Aimed at studios, live sound, broadcast, postproduction and other applications, Waves SoundGrid provides an extremely low-latency environment for audio processing. Waves SoundGrid technology is a networking and processing platform for real-time professional audio applications. The Plugin Alliance has become fully Waves SoundGrid-compatible with the release of the 100% SoundGrid Bundle V1.0.
